Here is a collection of jazz interpretations of some of Kurt Weill's finest songs that will excite both Weill fans and jazz enthusiasts alike! Stefan Karlsson, Tom Warrington and Ed Soph unite again to produce some wonderfully fantastical and swinging renditions of one of musical theatre's finest composers. This compilation is a fresh look at some of the mainstay tunes of the Weill repertoire performed with great musical insight and creativity. The fantasy on "Mack the Knife" is Karlsson at his compositional and improvisational best, interacting with the superb playing of Warrington and Soph.

"Stefan Karlsson has made a number of excellent jazz recordings in the last few years, but for my money, 'No Place To Go But Up' is his best effort yet. With each succeeding release Karlsson's playing and writing achieves new levels of depth and interest." Dan Skea, Jazz Notes (Nov/Dec 2000)
